MAGAZINES

The Summer 2023 issue of What Women Create sings with beauty.

I am honored to be in this inspiring magazine! I love the way they designed my 14-page feature, the fonts they used, and the photos they selected.

This story is all about my process in the creations of my art in all its many forms, and how important my garden is to me in everything I do, especially because when I stand at my worktable and look out of my big studio window, it is flowers and bushes and trees that I see, as if I am right in nature's midst.

My feature is a celebration of Summer here at River Garden Studio!

A beautiful page from my feature with a quote by me, and inspiration all around.

Where Women Create

The Fall 2022 issue of Where Women Create has a 18-page feature on my studio and myself, and all of the photos are taken by me! There is also a mini article at the back of the issue about me too!

Someone once told me that I had a way of creating art that was one with my photographs and studio.

I feel that this is true, because they are all so connected. When I create, work in my studio, garden, or photograph my work, I am truly working from my soul and my muse is beside me.

I am still in awe of how beautiful the article and spreads are!

It is a gorgeous issue with so many inspirational Studios stories and photos. Take a look around the wonderful Where Women Create website, and even subscribe while you are there!

Somerset Studio

Somerset Magazine, Summer 2021, HAS a feature on me!

I was honored to be interviewed by Christen Hammons for Somerset Magazine, one of the industry's most innovative mixed-media magazines. The article includes personal stories about my beginnings in art and tells of my evolution through schools and careers. Christen has a lovely way with words and asked some intriguing questions! She selected the images used in the article from my Instagram account!

Get to Know Me in a Different Way!

Here is a lovely sample from the article, "Like most artists, Roxanne's style is ever-evolving. She recalls when she used to paint representatively as well as draw detailed drawings.... 'But my art has changed,' shares Roxanne. 'Now it is more abstract, and the colored and textured papers I use for collages are usually made by me. I love to make assemblages and use old reclaimed wood for my surface. I also love the fiber arts and making handmade books. Sometimes all of these will show up in one piece.'"

This article and magazine have meant so much to me!

Somerset truly celebrates all of our unique styles and connections to our own creativity. Get your copy of Somerset Magazine, Summer 2021 today! That's right! You can still order it right here!

EXPLORE MIXED MEDIA

Since its debut, Cloth Paper Scissors has been the premier resource for truly creative mixed media artists. It covers all types of fiber arts and collage work, including mixed media, assemblage, art dolls, visual art journals, rubber stamping, stamp carving, printmaking, creative embroidery and book arts. Readers will receive inspiration and tips on watercolors, collage, lettering, metal, fabric, wearable art like jewelry and much more!

This article is the story of a Nature Journal, one made from my own hands just for the July/August issue of Cloth Paper Scissors.

It begins, "I have been keeping nature journals for years. Even when I was a teenager, journaling about nature made me feel connected the world outside and I was grateful for the things around me..."

My nature journals are not just filled with sketches and writing although those are parts of them with things begging to be touched and examined.

I was thrilled to see that my art was featured on the cover! Inside this magazine there is also a smaller article featuring shots of my River Garden Studio.
