For This ART AND CULTURE RETREAT

I’ve been invited back! Spend a magical mixed media art retreat with me in the hilltop village of Montelparo in Le Marche, Italy!  See the magic, feel the history, and hear the sounds of life in a medieval village from the eyes of an artist.

Starting with wonderful hosts at the most magical Boutique Hotel Leone, we will enjoy a delightful blend of adventure and culture with art-making and studio time. We will work both in the studio and on field trips with paint, collage, and mixed media projects to tell your story of this time and place in a beautiful artist book that you create and fill with special creations….We will make a portfolio by taking apart a vintage book cover and then collaging over it with fabrics and papers that represent the Italian landscapes around us.

Our portfolio will house our art projects, which will include collaging, painting, stitching, and assembling pages into enchanting abstract tapestries.

I will demonstrate different layering techniques and surface designs, collaging with fabric and paper, mark making, hand stitching, bookbinding and more. We will learn and play so much, and you will take home beautiful creations that you spent the week making!

You won’t believe all of the fun bonuses throughout the week, like a pasta-making master class, eco-printing workshop, wine tasting, incredible food and lodging, and so much more! Read all the details here now!

Would you like to make a book that represents what is sacred in your life?

We will use gesso, plaster and different mediums and glazes to make our pages tactile and mysterious. We will collage with fabric, paper, and images, then we will add hand-stitching and wiring for beautiful details and effects.

Together we will explore the symbolism and legends of the sun and the moon, the callings of the north and the south, and the offerings of day and night and where they can fit in our art.

And as each day unfolds, "between the sun and the moon,"  you will be inspired, nurtured and enriched... and discover the essence of your own creativity.
